Traffic Safety


Although patrol officers are primarily responsible for traffic enforcement and crash investigation, the department has assigned an officer to coordinate those efforts.  The function of the Traffic Safety Officer is to field traffic related complaints which include motor vehicle, pedestrian, and traffic control device related issues.  The Traffic Safety Officer conducts traffic analyses, traffic surveys, reviews site plans, attends pre-construction meetings, and creates traffic and detour plans.  The Traffic Safety Officer is responsible for all traffic enforcement related grants, the Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund, and reviewing all motor vehicle crash reports in Hanover Township.  The Traffic Safety Officer is also a member and attends the meetings of the NJ Police Traffic Officers Association, is a Radar Instructor, and works with other police agencies, engineering departments, and public / private organizations to maintain and improve traffic safety within Hanover Township.
